Leh Ladakh, Alchi and Nubra Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Meals: Dinner.
Accommodation: Homestay with heating.
Day 2
After breakfast, begin your exploration of Leh. First, visit the Leh Palace, a 17th-century marvel overlooking the city. Next, continue to the Leh Museum, where you’ll discover fascinating artifacts from Ladakh’s royal past. Later, head to the peaceful Shanti Stupa and the ancient Spituk Monastery. Each site, in its own way, reveals the deep Buddhist traditions of the region.
Meals: Breakfast.
Accommodation: Homestay with heating.
Day 3
Today, the drive westward takes you along the Indus River to some of Ladakh’s oldest monasteries. To begin with, stop at Alchi Monastery, known for its Kashmiri-style murals. Then, continue to Likir Monastery, where a tall golden statue of Maitreya Buddha welcomes visitors. Finally, reach Lamayuru, often called the Moonland of Ladakh because of its unique terrain.
Drive Distance: 125 km (approx. 5–6 hours).
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Accommodation: Homestay with heating.
Day 4
In the morning, cross the legendary Khardung La Pass (18,380 feet), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. As you descend, witness how the landscape transforms into the desert beauty of Nubra Valley. Moreover, visit the ancient Diskit Monastery, followed by a camel ride on the sand dunes of Hunder.
Meals: Breakfast and dinner.
Accommodation: Guesthouse in Nubra with heating.
Day 5
Early today, drive towards the world-famous Pangong Lake. During winter, the entire lake freezes into mesmerizing shades of blue and white. Although it’s a long day on the road, the ever-changing winter scenery makes it truly rewarding.
Drive Time: 10–11 hours total.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Accommodation: Homestay in Leh.
Day 6
Today, immerse yourself in the spiritual side of Ladakh. Begin with a visit to Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest in the region.
